Me...

"I have thee not, yet I see thee still!"

First and foremost...

wait for it...

I'm not THAT Steve Golin!

Sadly, THAT Steve Golin, the producer, has passed...

Someday I hope to be thought of as THAT "Steve Golin", but it will likely have to be THAT "Steven J Golin" or something else which distinguishes me from the current THAT "Steve Golin".

I had myself an agent for short bit...

Did a couple industrial commercials and two student films... fun but WAY time consuming when you have a full time job IRL.

I just couldn't dedicate the time to truly beat the pavement

Still a goal but, at the moment, unrepresented

Really thinking, in this post COVID world, I need to pursue voice acting

Ya... getting right on that, clearly

In the mean time I am a computer programmer... and yes, I will fix your computer, but it'll cost you (terms negotiable). Spare time is filled with my family, friends, community theater, and some occasional impromptu musical efforts.

Born and raised in Southern California.

Spent 1984 - 1991 in the Air Force and now consider myself a resident of nowhere. Texas just happens to be where I am and I like it here, for now.

Before programming I was a TV news reporter for KDF TV (Fox) in Corpus Christi, before that a Videographer/Reporter for KRIS TV (NBC) in Corpus, and before that an Air Force Broadcaster (Ya, like in 'Good Morning Vietnam' but totally different). My first two years in the Air Force I was a helicopter mechanic, I liked broadcasting much better.

I first went to college as a Physics major after high school. Within 3 months I had switched to a Theater Arts major. Within 18 months I was ready for the Air Force. The reasons aren't really complex, but they do require more explanation than I want to get into here.

I was in my first musical play in 3rd or 4th grade (I've slept since then). Definitely hooked. Over the years I've come and gone from theater many times. In "All In" mode for the last several years and probably the rest of my life.

I've been in two rock bands (singer): the first from 1982-1983 in Northern California while attending Humboldt State University, the second from 1993-1996 while living in Corpus Christi. We were "Media Blues". Two cops and two news media members. It was awesome. We had serious synergy. We were booked steady 3-4 nights a week and looking to branch out when we lost John, our drummer and my fellow newsie. His wife took a job as news director in New Mexico (I think). Things weren't the same after that... then KDF closed its news department, and I had definitely lost my taste for reporting, so sought a new career path.

I have dabbled in programming since I was kid. The father of my best friend was/is a chemistry professor at Cal State Dominguez Hills, and he had a modem with which we could connect to the college mainframe way back in '77. We learned Basic and did some very basic programming. Then came the TRS 80's. My best friend got one of those (of course) and we continued to learn and play. I eventually bought a Commodore 64 and played with that. My first time at college I took a "real" programming course in Basic. It was painfully easy. Looking back, I wish it had not been, maybe I would have seen the potential more clearly... I didn't pursue it. Long story short, though not as a career, I continued working with and learning about computers until I took it on as a new profession in 1996.

BTW, I haven't killed any kings, I just find the phrase fitting (when taken completely out of context).
